Lago Vistoso Lake Algae Updated (CLICK HERE)
Hello Everyone The algae in lakes 11 -14 went crazy on the 1st and is getting worse every day. The algae has pretty much covered the entire surface of the water except where the aerators are pushing the water. The lake smell at night is getting stronger by the day. I assume that is from the algae and no wind to dissipate the smell. This year we have endured the hottest on record. In 2023 we had 127 days over 100, with 55 of them being over 110. So far this year, we have had 134 days over 100 with 80 days being over 110.The weather forecast indicates that we will not see below 100 degrees until mid October. Here’s hoping we do get a break in the heat soon! I understand that we have to be careful about using chemicals while it is still very hot. I certainly don’t want more fish to die and all of the associated work and cost. The new algaecide and a foam inhibitor will be applied later this week. Hopefully the new algaecide will help us address the algae problem. Thank you, - Lagos Vistoso HOA Board of Directors

Dead Fish
The algae has been a challenge this year. Doing small treatments was helping but the fear is that algae would keep growing and spreading into other lakes and cause even more problems. We did an algicide treatment on Thursday (27th) to address the heavy algae levels in some of our lakes. We know the treatments will cause the oxygen levels to plunge when this kind of treatment is applied. The heat also adds another factor in lowering the oxygen levels in the lakes. The combination of the two can cause less hardy fish to die. Our lake vendors have been contacted and they will be removing the dead fish as soon as possible. Thank you Gary

Lago Vistoso Landscape Update (CLICK HERE)
Hello everyone,IMPORTANT REMINDER : I want to begin this weekly report with a friendly reminder about our winter overseed proposal that was sent out earlier this month. If your community plans to overseed this year and hasn't informed us yet, please do so soon. This will allow us to place our seed order, schedule your community, and start planning the transition process. Please note that proposals are valid until August 31st, after which we need to finalize our order with the seed vendor. While the Arizona summer is still upon us, we are in far better shape than we were this time a year ago. Our highs are in the normal range and our overnight lows are in the mid-80s, which isn't bad for the grass, plants and trees in our landscape right now. It is optimal growing season for most plants so the trim cycle work and tree debris is certainly a challenge right now, but that's no different from any other summer. The crews are working diligently to handle any storm debris in addition to the week's detail and trim cycle work. Please let us know if you have any questions. Trim Cycle Rotations: - Weed control remains a top priority, and our crew will continue to spray with their 5 gallon backpack and report if more help is needed from our spray tech division - This time of year we see some difficult weed varieties that our normal herbicide applications have a hard time eradicating and may have to use some other herbicides. One example is thistle (which eventually turns into a tumbleweed). It is particularly ornery and tough. - Routine shrub pruning continues in our trim cycle work as well as a detailed blowout of the same area and that is marked on your attached weekly report for your reference. Flower plants will be lightly trimmed for now so they don't become way overgrown and we try to preserve the spring blooms. - You may see certain shrubs pruned and others not in the same cycle, as we try to let them bloom as much as possible with reason Water Management: - It is still HOT so we remain on a more frequent watering schedule as the daytime temperatures continue to increase and the days get longer. - Grass area watering is at least 5 times per week right now with multiple start times in most cases. We try to keep turf watering outside of daylight hours as best we can to mitigate evaporation and there's also less wind during the night than daytime. - If you notice evidence of heavy runoff or excessive watering, please inform your management company at hello@heywoodmanagement.com so a work order can be issued.

Terra Verde Landscape Update
Hi everyone,Attached is your weekly maintenance report with hopes that August brings some reprieve from the heat with some monsoon moisture and not just high winds! Tree debris is one of our biggest challenges this time of year. We have pine trees, eucalyptus, and mesquite trees all dropping needles, leaves and seed pods. When you combine that with the wind we get on the leading edge of the haboobs or monsoon storms, it certainly adds to the cleanup challenge, especially if it was in a cycle area where we just worked and aren't scheduled back to for some weeks. Myself and Andrew are doing our best to get eyes on these eye sores and route the crew in order to complete their trim cycle work as well as debris cleanup. In an ideal world we would handle it the next time we are in that cycle, but we realize some areas need to be tended to more regularly in terms of tree and storm debris. We will certainly work diligently to make that happen. As always, stay cool and hydrated and make it a great week! Terra Verde Landscape Update
Hi everyone,We are in the midst of the dog days of summer with no relief in sight unfortunately. Our temperatures are hovering around 110 during the day and high 80s at night. The lack of cool air at night exacerbates the nutritional needs of the flora and the foliage drop we see with pine trees in the heat of the summer. You may notice pine tree needles piling up as quickly as we can clean them up this time of year. Our debris cleanup and detail work will be coordinated within our cycles. We've had high winds come through without much precipitation to show for it resulting in broken tree branches, trash and debris. Anytime there is a high-wind event we do our best to handle the urgent needs first and then work our way through the rest. We certainly appreciate your patience with that process. We currently have a round of turf fertilizer being applied and another round of granite pre-emergent. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions and remember to stay cool and hydrated. Make it a great week! Terra Verde - Landscape Update
Hello everyone,You know you live in Arizona when you look at the forecast and say "Oh it's only 108 today".... Sunday night brought some high winds (but no rain unfortunately) and that's going to continue as we are in the midst of monsoon season. In the case of monsoons or high wind events, please follow the Emergency Communications protocol at the bottom of this weekly report. It is at the bottom of all weekly reports we send in the case you need to find it quickly. In the event of damage our team will evaluate and prioritize in order of threat to public safety and property safety. If a tree is down in a greenbelt but not an immediate threat to streets, sidewalks or a home we will get to it as quickly as we can. In many cases it may not be the same day, but rest assured it will be handled as quickly as we can. Public safety will be our priority. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions and remember to stay cool and hydrated. Make it a great week! Terra Verde Landscape - Weekly Update
Hello everyone, We are beginning to see some monsoon activity, with some areas receiving rain, a lightning show and some wind. After a storm we will work on blowing out any debris that may have accumulated from Mother Nature's display during the next service visit. The crew foreman will also drive around and report any tree damage and ensure there is nothing blocking sidewalks or posing a safety concern. During monsoon season please follow the protocol at the bottom of this email in bold letters if an emergency situation presents itself. A fallen tree can sometimes create an irrigation leak/break as well if the tree is uprooted in a high wind. We have emergency staff on call 24/7/365! 4th of July maintenance schedule modification: We will be closed on Friday 7/5 in observance of the 4th of July holiday. Our schedule for maintenance service will be modified but if your day is different next week we will let you know when to expect our crew. Make it a great week, and stay cool! Feel free to reply if you have any questions about this week's report. Trim Cycle Rotations: - Weed control remains a top priority, and our crew will continue to spray with their 5 gallon backpack and report if more help is needed from our spray tech division - This time of year we start to see some difficult weed varieties that our normal herbicide applications have a hard time eradicating and may have to use some other herbicides. Weed Control Work Order Notice : The maintenance crew submitted an internal work order for supplemental post-emergent weed control applications that are in excess of the legal amount the crew can carry on their trailers without a certified applicator. We do include a fixed volume of post-emergent herbicide in your weekly maintenance agreement and that was applied during our service this week, but the amount needed to treat the volume of weeds present is in excess of that amount and will need a higher-volume application by our certified technician. Per our maintenance agreement we will dispatch our technician, who will treat the affected areas and it will be a supplemental times and materials (T&M) charge as it has been in recent years. This treatment is expected to take place in approximately the next 3-5 business days. If your community chooses not to apply this treatment and incur the time and materials charge, please advise us in writing immediately. Be advised that we do find this treatment necessary for the desired aesthetics and weed control in your community.
